Salt Lake City's $23 million Regional Athletic Complex celebrated its opening Saturday with a variety of activities on its 140 acres at 2280 N. Rose Park Lane.

The complex features 16 multi-purpose fields, a stadium field, restrooms and a concession area.

The Tribune wrote about the 12 years of political jockeying, bickering and various lawsuits that slowed its opening when the complex was unveiled by city officials in September.
